Memorial Day Bike Week
Memorial Day Weekend Important Information
The Memorial Day weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for our city. We have hundreds of thousands of visitors in Myrtle Beach over the weekend and we STRONGLY suggest you follow our advise to make your time here enjoyable. We have selected host hotel locations that will keep you away from heavily congested areas and give you easy access to the Convention Center. When not playing we recommend you visit attractions such as Broadway at the Beach, Coastal Grand Mall, Tanger Outlets, and the Market Common. If going to the beach is in order, our host hotels Springmaid Beach Resort and Surfside Beach Club, are your best bet. If you will be driving to the beach I suggest you go to Surfside Beach and Garden City Beach a few minutes to the south.
The boulevard area of Myrtle Beach has the heaviest congestion and objectionable behavior and should be avoided for the weekend. With colleges out and a large bike rally in town, the usually mild area can get out of control. It is not worth staying or visiting that area of town when we have other areas to enjoy.
Sincerely,
Alex Sing
Tournament Director

Best Routes when Traveling into Myrtle Beach
- When Traveling into Myrtle Beach try to find alternate routes into Myrtle Beach. If possible, avoid coming in on 501 (**congestion can add 2-3 hours), if coming from the west, consider coming in through Georgetown.

- If traveling in from the North… use HWY 9 West to Hwy 31

- IF TRAVELING FROM THE NORTH — AVOID ANY TRAVEL ON HWY 17 coming through ATLANTIC BEACH and NORTH MYRTLE BEACH — TRAVEL TIME WILL INCREASE 2-4 HOURS in that 15 mile stretch. PLEASE TRUST US AND DO NOT CONSIDER IT AN OPTION.
Areas to Avoid for Lodging and Travel while in Myrtle Beach:
Hotels and Lodging
- Please book rooms at our Host Hotels or in the areas south of Myrtle Beach… general travel time from Surfside Beach or Garden City Beach is typically 15-30 minutes. OUR BEST SUGGESTION IS TO AVOID ANY HOTELS ON OCEAN BLVD DURING THE BIKE WEEKEND. The convenience or lower cost in hotel rooms is not worth chancing a weekend that is not enjoyable for you and your family.
Driving
- Please avoid travel going into Northern Myrtle Beach, such as Restaurant Row… the congestion may lead to 2 hours of grid locked traffic. AVOID ALL TRAFFIC GOING INTO ATLANTIC BEACH OR NORTH MYRTLE BEACH… if having to travel north, utilize Hwy 31 as an alternative.
- Stay off of Ocean Blvd and if planning on beach time. Use Surfside Beach and Garden City as Destinations.
- Business 17/Kings Hwy is very congested, if possible, travel North to South using Grissom Pkwy (it runs from 48th North to Coastal Grand Mall)
